HoloClay addresses modeling complex 2.5D clay components by unskilled workers. For this purpose, we generate a digital relief model using a grayscale image, and a height profile map defines topographic lines projected onto the sculptor’s retina using Microsoft Hololens. The user, in turn, only follows the contour lines to execute the sculpture. The results speak for themselves. Unskilled workers intuitively and quickly shape the artist’s concept using digital files to form clay; it is a simple method for producing 2.5D clay parts using cybercraft methods.
